Creative Improv Workshop

Join Amanda Schlachter and Christine Alexander as they guide you through a series of games, exercises and improvisations for self expression and creativity.  You will take away a greater sense of how to use your voice and body while having laughed, played and bonded in unique ways with friends and family.  All are welcome to come and experience this workshop!

Christine Alexander

Christine Alexander is an award-winning improv artist, teacher and producer. She is a founding member of Florida Studio Theatre's long running improv troupe. Performed at improv festivals throughout the country and has been a stand out in the Sarasota Improv Festival for seven consecutive years. Master teaching artist at both FST and McCurdy's Comedy Theatre & Humor Institute and a guest performer for troupes around the nation performing cutting-edge comedy for over 15 years. Christine's improv based training sessions have been recognized as a valuable tool by national corporations and academic organizations, such as Bealls, Pepsico/Tropicana, Saks Fifth Ave, Florida State University and Ringling College of Art and Design. Leading customer service and sales training, communication, team building & collaboration workshops.

Most recently Christine has collaborated with healthcare professionals to develop an improved base program called, “Laughter is Inner Jogging.” Working with Sarasota Memorial Hospital, HCA Healthcare, Department of Health and regularly at Center for Building Hope which offers free information, programs and services to cancer patients, caregivers and family members, while connecting them with others who are undergoing a similar experience.

Christine has been instrumental helping businesses bring humor motivation into the workplace with her custom program, “Laughing Lunches.” In partnership with Joey Panek, she creates personalized work place entertainment for employee appreciation, celebrations, and …
Under this program, several businesses have included her improv-based entertainment as an integral part of their brainstorming sessions.

Christine’s “Yes, and..” presentation has been the keynote for numerous events and conferences, including Girl Scouts of America and Florida Creativity Weekend, and has been customized as breakout sessions for TEDxSarasota and civic organizations.

Christine has been recognized as an influential leader and award winning actress, her favorite accolade is hearing the laughter from her audience. She is well known not only for making other people laugh, but also for her own enthusiastic laughing. Her motto is, “If it feels good to laugh, then laugh to feel good.”

Amanda Schlachter

Amanda Schlachter Assistant Director of The SOURCE and director of the teen program, Amanda Schlachter is a professional actress and director.  Amanda recently graduated from The University of Florida with her Master of Fine Arts in Theatre. While at UF, Amanda worked with The Center for Arts in Medicine at Shands with a focus on Arts and Healing and worked with many diverse populations to bring theatre to help educate and enlighten different groups. Amanda has been a professional actress, director and teacher for the last 20 years working with such companies as Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, Asolo Rep, The Players Theatre, The Sarasota Film Festival and The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.  She also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The University of Central Florida and is a graduate and former Company Member of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts.  She is certified in Yoga Meets Dance and finds service to others through the arts is her greatest passion.
